Fulton County prepares to open 2026 Black History Film Festival with night of storytelling and scholarships

Fulton County, Georgia – District 5 Fulton County Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr. is getting ready to launch the 2026 Black History Film Festival with a night of storytelling, recognition, and community gathering.

The event starts on Friday, February 27, with an Opening Reception at the Emma Darnell Aviation Museum and Conference Center in Atlanta from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Acclaimed actor Lamman Rucker will be back as the guest emcee for the reception. This is part of a relationship that has become a regular component of the festival’s debut.

Before the first screenings start, Commissioner Arrington is slated to give out scholarships. This will put a lot of focus on education and opportunity right away, along with celebrating Black history and culture.

Attendees who register for the opening night will be able to view a series of films shown throughout the evening. Screenings are set to start at 7 p.m. and continue in close succession, featuring titles such as “Joe Barry Carroll,” “Just and Perfect,” “Through The Years,” “Rise of Legion,” and “Moment in Time.” Complimentary parking and refreshments will be available at the venue, located at 3600 Aviation Circle NW.
