South Fulton family tradition returns as District 5 Family Fun Day celebrates 11 years of community connection

Fulton County, Georgia – A spring community tradition is set to return to South Fulton as Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr. prepares to open the 2026 District 5 Annual Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 2. The free event, now in its 11th year, is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South Fulton Service Center, 5600 Stonewall Tell Road in South Fulton.

What has helped the gathering endure is its mix of celebration and service. While the atmosphere is built for families, the event is also designed to connect residents with resources that can make a practical difference in everyday life. Over the course of the afternoon, attendees will be able to take part in sports activities, storytelling, face painting, and a long list of attractions meant to keep children and adults engaged.

County services will also be part of the experience. Families will have access to mobile units from the Fulton County Library System and the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. Fulton Fresh is also expected to distribute fresh produce, adding to the event’s focus on wellness and community care.

“Family Fun Day is one of my favorite traditions because it brings our community together around what matters most—family, health, and connection,” said Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr.

“For 11 years, we’ve created a space where residents can have fun, access valuable resources, and invest in their well-being. I look forward to seeing families come out, enjoy the day, and take advantage of everything we have to offer.”

That emphasis on healthy living remains at the center of the day’s mission. Organizers say the event will spotlight recreation, health education, screenings, and access to fresh food, while also keeping the tone light and festive. Local performances are planned, along with family-friendly attractions including putt-putt, bumper cars, bowling, and basketball.

By combining entertainment with outreach, the event continues to reflect a broader effort to strengthen neighborhood ties while promoting well-being across District 5. It is not simply a few hours of games and activities, but a recurring community gathering built around connection, access, and shared experience.

Residents who plan to attend must RSVP in advance. Registration is available at https://tinyurl.com/2026FFD. Organizers are also encouraging attendees to spread the word online using the hashtag #2026FamilyFunDay.
