Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau citywide sales executive Cindy Moss prepares to retire after decades of major bookings

Atlanta, Georgia – Cindy Moss is closing a long chapter at the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, ending a career that helped fill hotel rooms, meeting halls and convention spaces across the city for more than a quarter century.

Moss, who serves as citywide sales executive for the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, will retire at the end of June 2026 after 26 years with the organization. Her departure marks the end of a major run in Atlanta’s hospitality and convention sales world, where large group bookings can shape business for hotels, restaurants, meeting venues and the wider visitor economy.

Her work at ACVB centered on big business. Within the tradeshow sales team, Moss focused on the corporate market and California-based associations, with a specialty in groups that needed 1,000 or more rooms on peak nights. These were not small meetings tucked into a ballroom. They were the kinds of conventions and events that bring waves of visitors into Atlanta and keep the city’s hospitality industry moving.

Over the years, Moss generated thousands of leads and helped secure millions of room nights. That work translated into major economic impact for Atlanta, particularly for hotels and businesses tied to conventions and group travel.

“Cindy has played a key role in our sales success for nearly three decades,” said Charlene Lopez, executive vice president and chief sales officer, Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB).

“Her ability to secure multi-year conventions for major associations and corporations has left a lasting mark on our city. We are incredibly grateful for her dedication and the expertise she brought to our team every day.”

Moss’s career in hospitality began long before her time at ACVB. A graduate of the University of South Carolina in Columbia, she first worked on the operations side of the business, spending several years in front office management. That early experience gave her a ground-level view of hotels before she moved into sales, where her career continued to grow.

Before joining ACVB, Moss served as director of sales and marketing for two downtown Atlanta hotels. That background helped shape her understanding of what major events mean not just on paper, but inside the hotels and service teams that host them.

During her 26 years with ACVB, Moss worked from both the Atlanta headquarters and remotely from Chicago, remaining connected to the city’s convention sales efforts as Atlanta continued to compete for major meetings and events.

After her final day with ACVB, Moss plans to begin retirement in North Carolina with her husband, Robert, and their two French bulldogs, Wellington and Chuck. For the couple, the move is also a return to the South, with warmer weather, more sunshine and life closer to the beach ahead.
