Alpharetta sets multi recycling drive on September 27 to help residents clear clutter and cut landfill waste

Alpharetta, Georgia – North Fulton residents and companies will have a simple, one-stop way to get rid of junk and keep things out of the landfill on Saturday, September 27, 2025. The City of Alpharetta and the Alpharetta Natural Resources Commission will hold a multi-recycling collection at the Public Works Department, 1790 Hembree Road, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. There will be electronics recycling, secure document shredding, and a special drop-off for hard-to-recycle plastics and Styrofoam® packaging at the event.

Atlanta Recycling Solutions will take care of the electronics and recycle whatever they get. You can drop off most things for free, however there are cash costs for some displays: $30 for each suitable TV, $30 for each CRT device, and $50 for each projection TV. Officials won’t take TV console units or loose TV tubes. If your business has a lot of items to recycle, please call Atlanta Recycling Solutions at 678-566-6665 to talk about pickup possibilities.

On-site document shredding will let people and organizations safely get rid of confidential papers. You can leave paper clips, rubber bands, staples, and sticky notes in place, but you should take out bigger binders and metal things. Each home or company can only have five boxes. Shredding will end early if the truck fills up before noon. If you have more than five boxes, you can call Ecoshredding at 770-490-5607 for other options.

Organizers are encouraging people to combine security and kindness by bringing one canned food item for every box of paperwork that needs to be shredded. The North Fulton Community Charities Food Bank will get money from donations. People who are there should stay in their cars; workers will unload the supplies.

This year, in partnership with Green Cell Inc., a local group that works to make the world more sustainable, there will be a collection for plastics that are hard to recycle. Plastics with numbers 4, 5, 6, and 7 are usually picked up at the curb, but they will be accepted during the event. You can find Hefty Renew orange bags at most big stores. Put your items in these bags and keep them clean. If you don’t bring bags, the personnel can bag your things on the spot. However, pre-bagging will make the line move faster.

They will also pick up Styrofoam® packaging, but there will be explicit guidelines to keep the stream clean. Organizers will only accept white foam for packaging. If you can, please put it in a regular garbage bag before dropping it off. There will be large transparent bags available on site. Organizers won’t take colored foam, packing peanuts, or takeout food containers.

The Public Works site in Alpharetta also has a permanent glass recycling drop-off for clean food and drink containers at the same Hembree Road location. Go to the City’s recycling page for more information about recycling in general. You can ask Terry Porter about the event at [email protected] or 678-297-6213.
