DeKalb County, Georgia – In the most recent U.S. News & World Report rankings, DeKalb County schools rank among the best in Georgia and show really remarkable performance. Leading the drive, Kittredge Magnet School for High Achievers is the top elementary school in the state.
This esteemed ranking is a component of a larger evaluation by U.S. News & World Report, which ranks institutions using public information provided by the U.S. Department of Education. The rankings show success on state-mandated tests, graduation rates, and the range of college courses provided among other criteria.
Situated in the center of DeKalb County, Kittredge Magnet School earned a perfect score of 100 out of 100, ranking not only among Georgia’s top elementary schools but also establishing a high benchmark for educational quality all around. Not long behind, Wadsworth Magnet School for High Achievers in Decatur came second in the state, proving the potency of magnet programs in the area.

DeKalb County excelled not only in the primary level but also in middle and high school rankings. Another outstanding is the DeKalb School of the Arts, which scored seventh in the state and number 304 nationally, therefore highlighting the district’s dedication to provide varied and strong learning options.
Other DeKalb County schools that scored noteworthy records are Vanderlyn and Oak Grove Elementary Schools, ranking 38 and 40th respectively, and Austin Elementary, which came 50th in Georgia. Ranked at 46 in the state, Fifth Avenue Elementary School also made the top 50 list for the City Schools of Decatur.
Decatur High School stood out among high schools, rating 28th in Georgia and Chamblee and DeKalb Early College Academy not far behind, placed 33rd and 45 respectively. Other notable mentions include Dunwoody High School, Drew Charter, and Arabia Mountain High School, all of which ranked in the top 100 of Georgia high schools.

Ranked among the top 125 schools in Georgia, Lakeside and Druid Hills High Schools also highlighted the general caliber of county education.
Reiterating the robust educational framework in DeKalb County, Globe Academy Charter School, Chamblee Middle School, and Beacon Hill Middle School each placed in the top 50 of their categories on the middle school front.
The rankings this year honor not just the accomplishments of specific institutions but also the DeKalb County School District’s total success.
