Alpharetta, Georgia – Downtown Alpharetta is once again preparing for the 20th annual Scarecrow Harvest, which returns from October 8 through November 2. More than 120 handcrafted scarecrows will line the streets, each one uniquely designed by local schools, families, non-profits, businesses, and neighborhood groups.
This beloved seasonal tradition transforms the city’s downtown area into a lively showcase of fall-themed imagination. From whimsical and funny to spooky and clever, the scarecrows bring joy and creativity to residents and visitors alike.
“When the scarecrows start showing up downtown, it really feels like fall has arrived,” said Morgan Rodgers, Director of Alpharetta Recreation, Parks & Cultural Services. “The event is a great way for the community to get creative and celebrate the season. Every year, the scarecrows show just how talented and imaginative people in Alpharetta can be.”
Friendly Competition and Family Fun
Each scarecrow display is entered into the Scarecrow Community Competition, where entries are judged in six fun categories: Laugh Out Loud Crow, Spookiest Crow, SchCOOLest Crow, Best in Show Crow, Celebrity Crow, and Recycle Crow. Winners will be announced during this year’s Boo Bash celebration on Saturday, October 18, at the Alpharetta Community Center.
The Boo Bash will feature free children’s activities, food, music, crafts, and games for the entire family. The highlight of the evening will be the award ceremony for the top scarecrow entries, which begins at 6:30 p.m. Anyone interested in helping judge the scarecrows this year can volunteer by contacting [email protected].
New This Year: The Scarecrow Puzzle Hunt
In celebration of the event’s 20th anniversary, organizers are introducing a brand-new activity for all ages—the Scarecrow Puzzle Hunt. Sponsored by the Alpharetta Convention & Visitors Bureau, this interactive experience invites participants to explore downtown Alpharetta while following themed clues and piecing together a special puzzle.
Upon completing the puzzle, participants will earn a commemorative sticker as a keepsake. Puzzle packets and stickers are available at Alpharetta City Hall, the Alpharetta Community Center, and the Alpharetta Convention & Visitors Bureau. For added convenience, puzzle materials can also be downloaded from Solving Fun and printed at home.
