Early voting opens soon in Senate District 21 as Alpharetta residents gear up for key decision

Alpharetta, Georgia – On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, voters in Georgia’s State Senate District 21 will be able to vote in a Special Election. Early voting is about to start soon, so people in the area are being encouraged to take part and make their voices heard in choosing their next state senator.

Voting in advance starts on Monday, August 4, and ends on Friday, August 22. From Monday to Friday, polling stations will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you can’t vote during the week, you can also vote on Saturday, August 9 and August 16, at the same times. But there won’t be any voting on Sunday.

Voters in Alpharetta can vote early at the Alpharetta Library, which is at 10 Park Plaza. There is also a secure ballot drop box there for anybody who want to vote by mail. People in Milton can vote early in person at the Milton Library, which is located at 855 Mayfield Road.

There are a few important deadlines coming up for people who want to vote in this election. June 9 marked the first day voters could request absentee ballots, while July 21 was set aside for logic and accuracy testing of voting machines. August 15 is the last day to ask for an absentee ballot.

There will be a runoff if no contender gets more than half of the votes in the election on August 26. If that happens, people remain able to ask for absentee ballots for the runoff until September 12. From September 13 to September 19, individuals could vote early for the runoff. The last day to vote in the runoff would be September 23.

The Fulton County Department of Registration & Elections website highly encourages residents to double-check their voter registration status, polling places, and absentee ballot options. The City’s Voting & Elections page has information and resources on elections in Alpharetta.

The Special Election for Senate District 21 is a very important opportunity for community members to help define the leadership and future of their district, especially because early voting is coming up soon.
