Georgia Gov. Kemp celebrates major win as Mercedes-Benz deepens roots in Georgia with 500 new jobs

Atlanta, Georgia – Mercedes-Benz is set to expand its footprint in Georgia, announcing that Metro Atlanta will soon become the company’s North American headquarters. This Monday, Governor Brian Kemp announced the decision, calling it a big step forward for the state’s increasing image as a center for innovation and the auto sector.

The decision will mean that Mercedes-Benz will move some of its most important business teams to the “1MB” building in Sandy Springs. About 800 Georgians already work at this site, which debuted in 2018. As the corporation becomes more committed to Georgia, up to 500 more jobs are expected to be opened in the area.

Mercedes-Benz is moving its North American headquarters to Metro Atlanta and building a new, high-tech Research & Development center near the Sandy Springs site. This investment will provide new job opportunities for people in the area and show that the brand is committed to pushing the limits of automotive technology. Officials think that the whole change will be done by August 2026.

Governor Kemp praised the move, noting that it reflects Georgia’s momentum in the mobility sector.

“Georgia continues to lead the way in the future of mobility and technical innovation, attracting world-class companies like Mercedes-Benz that are driving the automotive industry forward,” said Governor Brian Kemp. “We’re excited that a job creator that already has close ties to Georgia is doubling down on that choice and growing their presence here in the best state for business and opportunity.”

Jason Hoff, the CEO of Mercedes-Benz North America, expressed gratitude to the state for the help the company received. He stressed that the expansion will bring team members closer together, making the organization more flexible and more capable to provide outstanding client service. Hoff noted that the Atlanta area’s world-class environment will assist Mercedes-Benz keep growing in the U.S. market.

The “1MB” site continues to be home to the sales and financial services departments at Mercedes-Benz. The new R&D hub will focus on making the next generation of cars and mobility solutions. Officials from Georgia, such as the Department of Economic Development and partners like the City of Sandy Springs, Select Fulton, the Metro Atlanta Chamber, and Georgia Power, all worked together to get this important project.
