I-75 Northwest Corridor and South Metro express lanes shut down until roads are safe

Atlanta, Georgia – Adverse winter conditions have resulted in the temporary closing of express lanes on Interstate 75 according to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). With the closures that started on Monday at 10:30 p.m., this measure influences the I-75 Northwest Corridor as well as the I-75 South Metro regions. The lanes will be closed until the temperature rises and the roads become safe for travel.

Travelers who frequently use these express lanes are advised to seek alternative routes or plan for possible delays. Real-time updates on the status of the lanes can be accessed through the state’s dedicated traffic website at https://www.511ga.org, which provides continuous information on road conditions across Georgia.

Furthermore closed due to the bad weather will be the Peach Pass Retail Center at 245 Peachtree Center and retail centers at several Department of Driver Services sites. Still, the Peach Pass contact center will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., helping pass holders and answering questions.

Crossing Cobb and Cherokee counties, the I-75 Northwest Corridor Express Lanes run from Akers Mill Road to Hickory Grove Road and along I-575 from I-75 to Sixes Road. From State Route 155 in Henry County to State Route 138 in Clayton County, the I-75 South Metro Express Lanes run a 12-mile stretch along the median of Interstate 75. For metro Atlanta’s drivers to have a faster commute and help to ease traffic congestion, these lanes are essential.
