Road closures planned in Alpharetta for Fourth of July fireworks at Wills Park

Alpharetta, Georgia – Road closures and heavy traffic should be expected for residents of Alpharetta as well as visitors celebrating Independence Day at Wills Park. The City of Alpharetta has announced that significant road closures will take effect on Thursday, July 4th, to accommodate the annual fireworks display.

The particular streets to be closed are Wills Road between Old Milton Parkway and State Route 9 and Old Milton Parkway between State Route 9 and Wills Road. Whichever first occurs, these closures are set to start at 6:30 PM or as soon as the Wills Park parking lots fill. The roads will stay closed until later in the evening the fireworks display ends.

Apart from the closures, city officials also alert of expected traffic congestion. Starting about 5:30 PM as guests start to arrive, increased vehicle activity is expected to last until roughly 10:30 PM after the event. Drivers skipping the event should look for other routes to avoid delays.

The fireworks show, a highlight of the city’s Fourth of July celebrations, is set to start at 9:15 PM. Should bad weather compromise the presentation, nevertheless, a delayed start no later than 10:40 PM has been planned.
