Homeowners invited to in-person and virtual town halls on property tax relief in Fulton County

Fulton County, Georgia – Dubbed as the “Spring District Dialogues,” Fulton County District 5 Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr. is scheduled to host a series of town hall events. Starting on March 10, 2025, these meetings give residents a forum to interact directly with local government authorities about Homestead Exemptions—a major financial issue that affects many of the local residents.

Commissioner Arrington’s Spring District Dialogues project aims to inform and teach the public on the advantages and Homestead Exemption application procedures. This legal clause lets owner-occupied homes pay less in property taxes provided the owner uses the house mostly for residence. Residents must submit their application on or before April 1st if they want to benefit in the current tax year; applications sent after this date will apply the next year.

For homeowners, understanding Homestead Exemptions could result in large savings. Residents have an excellent opportunity to get thorough understanding and have their questions addressed straight from professionals from the Tax Assessor’s office in these meetings.

To accommodate both in-person and online participants, the sessions are set to take place at four separate times and venues throughout  March. The first meeting will be in person on March 10th from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Economic Development Office located at 6385 Old National Hwy Suite 210 in South Fulton. Residents interested in attending can RSVP online.

Following the first session, attendees may participate via Zoom or YouTube in a virtual town hall slated for March 11th, also from 6 to 7 p.m. This remote alternative serves those who might not be able to physically attend but still want to take part and keep updated on local tax laws.

From 11 a.m. to noon on March 14th, the third meeting will take place in the New Beginnings Senior Center at 66 Brooks Drive in Fairburn. The last meeting will take place on March 24 at the Wolf Creek Library on 3100 Enon Road in South Fulton for an evening session running from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Every session promises to be insightful, helping people to negotiate the complexity of property taxes and take advantage of any exemptions. These sessions also give citizens an opportunity to directly express their ideas and issues to Commissioner Arrington and his staff.
