IKEA to open new type of store called a Plan & Order Point with Pick-Up in Alpharetta

Alpharetta, Georgia – On Thursday, IKEA U.S. made an exciting announcement about their new project. They’re planning to open a new type of store called a Plan & Order Point with Pick-Up in Alpharetta, by the summer of 2024. This fresh initiative will be located in the Mansell Crossing Shopping Center, aiming to bring the well-loved IKEA vibe closer to people living in the Atlanta metro area. The focus here will be on helping customers design their living spaces with the help of IKEA’s design experts.

This particular spot in Alpharetta is just a piece of IKEA’s larger ambition to grow within the U.S., making the brand more reachable and flexible in how people prefer to shop. It marks a departure from IKEA’s usual big-box store setup, allowing customers to sit down with staff members to figure out and order what they need for more complex home projects, like setting up kitchens, bedrooms, or bathrooms. The store will have options for having purchases delivered or picked up right there, making it super convenient for customers to get their hands on their goods.

“The good news keeps coming! I couldn’t be more thrilled to share our latest location for an IKEA Plan and order point with Pick-up in Alpharetta. It’s all about bringing the magic of IKEA closer to customers, making it easier and more affordable to access our home furnishing products and solutions,” said Javier Quiñones, CEO & Chief Sustainability Officer, IKEA U.S.

For nearly two decades, IKEA has been a household name in Atlanta, first opening its doors in the Midtown area back in 2005. The new IKEA Alpharetta branch is settling into a cozy 4,306 square feet of space within Mansell Crossing, an airy and stylish shopping center at 7681 North Point Parkway in Alpharetta, Georgia. This expansion means that folks living in the Atlanta metro now have even easier access to IKEA’s budget-friendly and convenient offerings. However, those craving IKEA’s famous meatballs or any of their other food items will still need to head over to the main IKEA store in Atlanta.

“I’m beyond excited to welcome customers at IKEA Alpharetta this summer. No more trekking through that notorious Atlanta traffic—now you can enjoy IKEA and our inspiring home design with less hassle. The IKEA Alpharetta Plan and order point with Pick-up brings our signature styles closer to the community—making it more accessible, more convenient, and of course, more affordable,” said Brandon Lomax, Market Manager, IKEA U.S.

On top of launching new Plan & Order Points in urban areas, IKEA U.S. is also boosting its online shopping experience and services. This includes rolling out new perks for IKEA Family members, reducing the cost of shipping and delivery, offering a Click & Collect service, and partnering with TaskRabbit for assembly services.
