Alpharetta, Georgia – Getting rid of old electronics, clearing out sensitive paperwork and helping stock a local food pantry can all happen in one stop later this month in Alpharetta.
The City of Alpharetta and the Alpharetta Natural Resources Commission will hold a community recycling collection on Saturday, September 26, giving North Fulton residents and businesses a convenient way to dispose of several common household and office items responsibly.
The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Alpharetta’s Public Works Department, located at 1790 Hembree Road in Alpharetta. Electronics recycling and on-site document shredding will both be available.
For electronics, Alpharetta is working with Full Circle Electronics to collect unwanted devices for recycling. Most accepted items can be dropped off at no charge, although fees apply to several types of equipment.
Acceptable televisions and CRT devices will each carry a $30 cash fee, while projection televisions will cost $50 each. Console units and TV tubes will not be accepted. Full Circle Electronics can accept only cash for items requiring payment.

A complete list of accepted electronics is available in the Full Circle Accepted Items to Recycle PDF. Businesses with particularly large quantities of electronics are asked to contact Full Circle Electronics directly at 678-566-6665 to discuss recycling options.
The September collection will also provide secure document destruction using a mobile shredding truck. Residents and small businesses may bring up to five boxes of confidential paperwork. Staples, paper clips, rubber bands and sticky notes do not need to be removed, but large binders and metal objects should be taken out beforehand.
The five-box limit will be strictly enforced. Organizers also warn that shredding could end before noon if the truck reaches capacity. Anyone with more than five boxes can contact Ecoshredding directly at 770-490-5607.
Participants are being encouraged to add a charitable element to the cleanup. The Alpharetta Natural Resources Commission is asking visitors to bring one canned food item for each box of documents they have shredded. Donations will go to the North Fulton Community Charities Food Bank for distribution to local neighbors.
The collection will use a drive-through format. Participants are asked to remain inside their vehicles while event workers unload the materials.
