DeKalb County, Georgia – DeKalb County local authorities confirmed the shocking accident early in the morning in DeKalb County involving a school bus and an SUV. As a result of the crash, several people were taken to the hospital with at least one person believed to be in critical condition.
The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. at the corner of Covington Highway and Lamar Street. Emergency services were called to the scene and arrived just minutes after the initial.
The SUV crashed in the back of the school bus, damaging both vehicles and trapping the driver inside the SUV, according to the authorities. The driver was freed by emergency crews after extensive efforts. He was then rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
Fox 5 said that a spokesperson for the DeKalb County School System said the bus was carrying students from Peachtree Elementary School and Bethune Elementary School. Two kids, whose ages were not given, were hurt in the accident.

The school bus driver was hurt too. All three of them were taken to the hospital to be examined, but according to the on-scene responders, the students and the bus driver are believed to be in stable condition suffering only minor injuries.
This accident caused significant disruptions, with multiple lanes on Covington Highway being closed for approximately two hours as the authorities conducted their initial investigation and cleared the wreckage. The road has since been reopened, and traffic flow has returned to normal.
The DeKalb County Police are looking into what caused the crash right now.
