New Beginnings Senior Center in Fairburn wins statewide honor for empowering older adults

Fulton County, Georgia – The Georgia Association of Senior Centers (GASC) has named the New Beginnings Neighborhood Senior Center in Fairburn the 2025 Senior Center of the Year. The award honors the center’s decades-long commitment to helping older individuals through wellness, creativity, and community connection.

The first GASC Awards Luncheon and Launch took place on September 26 at The Morrow Center in Morrow, Georgia, where the award was presented. The judging panel, which included specialists from all over the country, praised the center for its creative programs and the positive effect they have on the lives of seniors and their families in the area.

The New Beginnings Neighborhood Senior Center has been a key part of the Fairburn neighborhood since it opened in 1992. About 86 older people come to the center every day to do things like exercise classes, nutrition programs, art workshops, and social events. The center’s success is due in large part to the team’s dedication to fostering healthy and independent aging. The facility is run by South Fulton Senior Services, Inc., with Executive Director Pier Holder and Center Manager Pamela Daniel in charge.

You can sense the center’s feeling of community and longevity in its members, some of whom have been coming since it opened. One of the initial participants, who is turning 100 this year, still drives himself and his wife to the center. This shows the energy and purpose that New Beginnings wants everyone who comes to have.
