Area Development Magazine names Georgia the best state for business for the 11th straight year

Atlanta, Georgia – In an announcement at the annual Governor’s Workforce Summit in downtown Atlanta, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp said that the state has clinched the title of the number one state for business for an impressive eleventh consecutive year. The announcement was made at the Georgia World Congress Center, drawing applause from attendees who gathered to discuss workforce strategies and economic development.

“We are honored to accept the title of ‘Top State for Business’ for an unprecedented 11th year,” said Governor Brian Kemp. “This latest recognition underscores that our pro-business approach to economic development is creating opportunities for Georgians in every corner of the state.

Area Development Magazine, a top publication on corporate site choice and relocation, awards these prestigious awards. The magazine’s support of Georgia emphasizes the state’s continuing attraction to companies in several fields, including manufacturing, biotechnology, and information technology.

Governor Kemp praised state and local partners whose cooperative efforts have driven Georgia to the top of business-friendliness in the country during his speech.

“Proud to announce that Georgia has been named the No. 1 State for Business by Area Development Magazine for an 11th consecutive year! Thank you to all of our incredible partners on the state and local level who made this possible,” Kemp stated in remarks later shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.

As Area Development Magazine points out, the Georgia Quick Start program is fundamental for Georgia’s development. Under the Technical College System of Georgia, this program aims to provide workers with required skills in highly sought-after sectors thereby guaranteeing a ready and qualified workforce. Moreover, Georgia’s strategic infrastructure—which includes the Port of Savannah, the busy Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and vast road and railway systems—very much helps to explain its top ranking.

Furthermore, appealing corporate tax rates and incentives help Georgia to strengthen its competitive advantage. With a progressive decrease meant to bring down below 5% in the next years, Governor Kemp signed a bill matching corporate income tax rates with those imposed on individuals recently. These budgetary policies make Georgia an even more attractive place for businesses trying to grow or relocate.

Southern states—South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Indiana joining Georgia in the top five—showcase strongly in the magazine’s 2024 ranks of top states for business. This tendency emphasizes the Southern region’s increasing economic growth within the national corporate scene.
