Fulton County residents can help shape how local job support works through 2027

Fulton County, Georgia – In Fulton County, workforce planning is not just paperwork tucked inside a government file. It is the quiet map behind job training, employer support, career counseling and the systems that help residents move from looking for work to getting ready for work.

That map is now open for public review. WorkSource Fulton has drafted the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Local Plan 2024-2027 for Local Workforce Innovation Area 06, giving residents, employers and community partners a chance to look over the direction of the county’s workforce strategy before the comment period closes on July 30.

The plan sits at the center of a larger question facing Fulton County: how to keep workers prepared while businesses continue to adjust to new needs, new technology and new labor demands. WorkSource Fulton’s role is to help connect those two sides of the local economy. On one side are job seekers who may need training, guidance or access to employment tools. On the other are employers looking for a workforce that is skilled, reliable and ready.

Public comments on the WIOA Local Plan are being accepted by email at [email protected]. On the county’s Workforce Development Board page, officials ask commenters to use the subject line “Local Plan Comments.” The draft plan is available for review through the county’s site.

The WorkSource Fulton WIOA team and the Local Workforce Development Board are built around a shared goal: supporting a trained workforce while creating programs that respond to the changing needs of employers and the business community. That work includes helping Georgia move toward a more complete, customer-focused workforce investment system, where job seekers and employers can find tools and information in one connected network.

For many residents, that network may be most visible through One-Stop Centers. WorkSource Fulton services are delivered through a statewide One-Stop system backed by WorkSource Georgia, giving residents access to workforce-related support designed to help manage job searches, training options and employment activities. Businesses can also use the system to connect with workforce resources and information.

The public comment window gives the community a chance to weigh in before the plan moves further along. For a workforce plan, that matters. Training priorities, employer partnerships and access points can shape how easily a resident finds help, how quickly a business finds talent and how well local programs match real conditions in the labor market.
