Georgia smashes another investment record with $35.2 billion pipeline and 25,300 new jobs

Atlanta, Georgia – Georgia entered the new fiscal year with a much bigger investment pipeline than it had just 12 months earlier. During Fiscal Year 2026, projects supported by the state reached roughly $35.2 billion, setting another record for economic development investment.

The number is only part of the story. Most of the activity came from companies already operating in Georgia, while three-quarters of expansions and new locations occurred outside the 10-county metro Atlanta region.

From July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Global Commerce team supported 436 expansions and new business locations. Those projects are expected to create about 25,300 private-sector jobs in the coming years.

Existing Georgia businesses accounted for 79% of the projects. Their expansions represented approximately 15,370 expected new jobs and $24.7 billion in investment. State officials said ongoing work with established companies also helped retain more than 90,000 existing jobs.

“Georgia is celebrating a second consecutive year of record-breaking investment as we continue to deliver on the promise to bring good-paying jobs to hardworking Georgians in every zip code,” Governor Brian Kemp said. He noted that expansions by existing companies represented the vast majority of projects during the fiscal year.

Growth was spread well beyond Atlanta. While metro Atlanta is expected to receive more than $5.3 billion in new investment, 75% of all expansions and new locations were outside the region’s 10 counties.

International investment also accelerated. Foreign companies are tied to more than $7.8 billion in FY26 investment and more than 9,350 expected jobs. Korea, Italy, Belgium, Canada and France were the leading international sources of job creation.

Manufacturing remained a major driver, accounting for 67% of projected new jobs. Automotive, life sciences and food processing manufacturing together represented 27% of job creation. Medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturing also reached its highest levels for new jobs and investment in a decade.

Corporate headquarters, technology, software and other innovation-focused projects are expected to create another 3,790 jobs, with companies planning more than $225 million in headquarters relocations and expansions.

Georgia is also continuing its Rural Site Development Initiative, which has received $28 million in state funding since launching in FY25. The state currently has more than 70 certified shovel-ready sites.

Additional information about announced projects is available through Georgia’s economic development newsroom and GDEcD.
