Georgia’s defense manufacturing sector grows with HK USA $13 million expansion in Columbus: 35 new jobs

Georgia – Georgia’s long-running relationship with Heckler & Koch is set to grow again, as Gov. Brian Kemp announced that HK USA will invest $13 million to expand its facility in Columbus-Muscogee County and add 35 new jobs.

The expansion strengthens a presence that began nearly two decades ago, when the Germany-based firearms manufacturer established its U.S. operations in Georgia in 2005. Today, HK USA supports about 115 jobs in Columbus, where the company operates at 5675 Transport Boulevard.

“HK USA has been supporting quality jobs for Georgians for more than two decades, and we are grateful to see this relationship continue to benefit the Columbus community,” said Governor Brian Kemp.

“Georgia remains the top destination for a wide range of industries – including defense and sporting goods – because of our world-class logistics network, our pro-business environment, and top-tier talent across the state.”

The company’s latest investment adds another chapter to Columbus’ growing role in Georgia’s manufacturing and defense-related economy. HK USA is part of Heckler & Koch, a global small arms provider serving military, law enforcement and civilian markets. The company is known for precision engineering, reliability and advanced firearm technology.

Michael Holley, CEO of HK USA, said the company’s Georgia workforce and local partnerships have been central to its success.

“From day one, the dedication of our Georgia-based team, along with the support of workforce partners including Georgia Quick Start, the Technical College System of Georgia, and the Choose Columbus retention program, has played a vital role in our success,” Holley said.

“Being part of Georgia’s defense and sporting community is a natural fit for us, and the Georgia Made® program gives us a meaningful way to celebrate our team and the quality products we’re proud to make here at home.”
