Fulton County, Georgia – Fulton County is putting new weight behind the people who keep local healthcare moving, with WorkSource Fulton and Grady Health System joining forces on a workforce training investment valued at up to $35,000.
The investment, made through the WorkSource Fulton Incumbent Worker Training Program, was celebrated by county, healthcare and economic development leaders as part of a wider effort to strengthen Fulton County’s healthcare sector. The goal is simple but important: help employers build skilled teams, support workers already on the job and prepare one of the county’s most vital industries for future demand.
Robb Pitts, Chairman of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, joined Anthony Saul, who will become President and Chief Executive Officer of Grady Health System on January 1, 2027, for the recognition. Their presence pointed to the larger meaning of the award, which is not only about training dollars, but also about retaining experienced healthcare professionals and helping Grady respond to changing workforce and patient care needs.

Several local leaders also took part in the presentation, including Select Fulton Director Samir Abdullahi, WorkSource Fulton Business Services Manager Lucius Runnels, WorkSource Fulton Local Workforce Development Board Chair Andy Macke, and Dr. Yolanda H. Wimberly, Chief Health Outcomes Officer for Grady Health System. Together, they highlighted the close link between workforce development, employee advancement and Fulton County’s long-term economic competitiveness.
The partnership comes as Grady continues to grow its footprint in South Fulton. On June 2, the health system opened its new South Fulton emergency department, bringing critical medical services closer to residents and adding to the healthcare infrastructure in one of the region’s fast-growing areas.
While the new emergency department expands access to care, the training investment focuses on the workers behind that care. The two efforts work side by side: one strengthens facilities, the other strengthens the workforce needed to serve patients well.

The award also fits into Fulton County’s broader strategy of matching workforce programs with real industry needs. Through the Incumbent Worker Training Program, employers can invest in current employees while creating stronger career pathways in high-demand fields.
So far, WorkSource Fulton has awarded nearly $100,000 in workforce training investments across the county. Previous recipients include Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED, the City of East Point Fire Department and other regional employers focused on employee growth.
