City of Alpharetta rolls out a year-ahead guide to help families lock in plans before spots fill

Alpharetta, Georgia – The school year may still be ahead, but in Alpharetta, the planning starts now. For families trying to map out camps, classes, sports, creative programs and busy calendars, the city has put one big resource in one place.

The City of Alpharetta’s 2026–2027 School Year Connect Guide is now available online, giving residents an early look at hundreds of programs designed to carry children, teens, adults and families through the coming year.

The guide brings together a wide mix of opportunities offered through the city’s Recreation, Parks & Cultural Services Department. It includes youth sports, dance programs, fitness classes, arts and cultural activities, adaptive recreation, school break camps and special events. The goal is simple: help people find ways to learn, move, create and stay connected with the community across every season.

For parents, the timing matters. The guide is being released before registration opens, giving families a chance to look through the options, compare schedules and build a wish list before spots become available. Many popular classes, camps and programs can fill quickly, so the city is encouraging early planning.

Registration will open first for Alpharetta residents on Wednesday, July 22, at 8:00 a.m. Non-residents will be able to register beginning Wednesday, August 5, at 8:00 a.m.

That two-week window gives local families the first opportunity to secure places in the programs they want most. It also gives everyone time to review the full guide online before making choices.

The city’s message is direct: “Ready to plan an amazing year ahead?” For many households, the Connect Guide is more than a list of activities. It can become a roadmap for after-school routines, school break plans, weekend events and new experiences that help children and adults stay active throughout the year.

The guide also reflects the range of interests found across the community. A child interested in sports can find a place to start. A student looking for dance or arts programs can explore new options. Adults searching for fitness classes can plan ahead. Families looking for inclusive recreation can review adaptive programs, while those thinking about school breaks can look for camps before schedules get tight.

Printed copies of the guide will also be available soon at city recreation facilities for anyone who prefers to browse the programs in person.

Residents can view the 2026–2027 School Year Connect Guide online through the City of Alpharetta. For questions about programs or help with registration, the Recreation, Parks & Cultural Services Department can be reached at [email protected] or by phone at 678-297-6100.
