Georgia – In Georgia, considered a battleground state, recent survey shows former President Donald Trump holding a steady lead over current President Joe Biden. Emerson College Polling and The Hill announced a poll on Tuesday that showed Trump with a 4-point lead over Biden. Trump’s percentage of respondents was 46%, while Biden’s was 42%. This small lead, on the other hand, is less than the 6-point lead Trump had in last month’s Georgia poll.
Even when undecided voters were asked to pick a side, Trump’s lead stayed the same at 4 points, translating to a 52 percent to 48 percent split. Adding third-party candidates to the mix seems to have widen Trump’s lead to 6 percentage points, giving Trump a 44 percent to 37 percent win. Third-party candidates like Independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Independent Cornel West, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein got between 1% and 5% of the vote. Kennedy, in particular, got votes from a wide range of voters.

Spencer Kimball, the head of Emerson College Polling, explained how Kennedy was especially popular with younger people, independents, and even some Democrats and Republicans.
A close look at what drives voters shows a different picture: In Georgia, 30% of Biden’s supporters are mostly motivated by their dislike of Trump, while only 15% of Trump’s backers are mainly motivated by their dislike of Biden. Trump’s base, which makes up 32% of his supporters, is more focused on specific topics.
Economy top concern for Georgians
For Georgians, the economy is the most important issue (32% say it’s the most important problem), followed by immigration and health care. At a split of 54% to 46%, voters seem to trust Trump more than Biden on important issues like immigration and how to handle the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Biden, on the other hand, has a 56 percent to 44 percent advantage in trust when it comes to abortion access.
