Fulton County takes over property tax billing for Union City and Palmetto residents in 2025

Fulton County, Georgia – Starting with the 2025 tax year, Fulton County will have new responsibilities. The county government will be in charge of billing and collecting property taxes for Union City and the part of Palmetto that is inside its borders. Residents in such locations will no longer send payments to their local finance departments. Instead, they will have to deal with any property tax issues through the Fulton County Tax Commissioner’s Office.

Palmetto County homeowners will still get individual tax bills from their city, so the modification doesn’t affect them. But for people who live in Fulton County, this change is supposed to make things easier. The county usually sends out tax bills before the cities do. This implies that property owners in Union City and Palmetto’s Fulton County side will probably get their city tax notices sooner than they have in the past.

Fulton County will be in charge of new bills starting in 2025, but the cities are still responsible for collecting taxes that haven’t been paid in the past. If you don’t pay your bills on time, you’ll keep getting penalties and interest, and they could still lead to tax sales.

They can also pay at any of the other three full-service locations run by the Tax Commissioner’s Office. You can also send money by mail to:

  • 141 Pryor Street, Suite 1106

For most homeowners, the major difference will be where they submit their payments, but the change means a big change in how things are run in both Union City and Palmetto. The county is in charge of all collections, which should make the process more effective and predictable for taxpayers in the future.
