Fulton County celebrates everyday beauty with new exhibition by Tyreek Morrison

Fulton County, Georgia – Inviting guests into an intimate universe formed by neighborhood ties and shared experiences, Fulton County’s Department of Arts & Culture has launched a new solo exhibition by contemporary creator Tyreek Morrison. Officially opened on Friday, May 9, the exhibition runs at the Emma Darnell Aviation Museum and Conference Center in northwest Atlanta until Friday, June 13, 2025.

The collection itself seems like a succession of intimate snapshots—each painting, sculpture or mixed-media piece overflowing with recollections of block parties, whispered family stories and that familiar nod passed between neighbors who’ve known each other for generations. Morrison creates a vibrant tapestry of color and form by mining these small-town vibes—where “if my parents know your parents, we’re cousins” isn’t just a phrase but a lived reality. Everyday events in his hands have new significance: the corner candy lady represents social giving; a modest front porch offers fresh perspectives on home and belonging.

Starting the exhibition on May 9 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the joyful opening reception provided early visitors the opportunity to meet the artist and see the show before the normal hours start.

Morrison will conduct an Artist Talk midway through the run on Saturday, June 7, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., inviting questions on technique, inspiration and the part community plays in his art. The event guarantees to highlight the narratives underlying the images and increase respect for the links connecting every item whether you are an art enthusiast or someone accidentally wandering in.

The public is invited to come during gallery hours—Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., or by appointment—free of charge. The museum is located at 3900 Aviation Circle NW; for directions or more information, guests may contact 404-612-8600 or visit the official website.

Tyreek Morrison shows us that art need not be far or lofty by anchoring his work in the straightforward yet deep rhythms of day-to-day existence. Here, in these rooms, it’s practically next door—woven into the fabric of a community that reared him, formed him and now, through this exhibit, invites everyone in to experience its tale.
