Gov. Kemp confirms another huge investment in Georgia, $28 million project to provide 130 new jobs

Atlanta, Georgia – Ritz Instrument Transformers has announced a $28 million investment in a new facility in Waynesboro, therefore boosting Georgia’s manufacturing economy and likely generating 130 new jobs. This development comes as Governor Brian Kemp leads a trade mission in Italy, highlighting Georgia’s growing appeal to international businesses.

Celebrated by Governor Kemp, Ritz, a company that specializes in the construction of instrument transformers for utility and original equipment sectors, has decided to expand its activities in rural Georgia. Kemp underlined the state’s aim to improve economic possibilities in less populated regions.

“We’ve worked hard to bring opportunity like this to rural Georgia,” Kemp said. “We’re proud this project adds even more jobs to one of those target areas following our face-to-face meeting with Ritz during our travel to Germany in 2023.”

According to Scott Flowers, general manager and CEO of Ritz USA, the new Waynesboro factory marks Ritz’s highest investment in North America to date. Flowers emphasized Waynesboro’s strategic decision and linked it to the municipal and state governments’ backing as well as the trained staff.

“The availability of a well-trained workforce and the support extended by Burke County and the state of Georgia made Waynesboro the obvious choice for Ritz,” said Flowers.

Ritz Instrument Transformers, headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, is not new to the Georgian landscape. The corporation runs two plants in the state right now. Currently employing 30 staff members, a temporary plant in Burke County will move all of its employees to the new Waynesboro site once it opens. Another Lavonia factory opened its doors in 2010.

The cooperative efforts of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the Development Authority of Burke County, and the state agency’s Europe office contributed to facilitating the decision to grow in Waynesboro. This development not only highlights Ritz’s dedication to its North American business but also captures the increasing trend of foreign direct investment in Georgia’s manufacturing sector. Ritz will strengthen its capacity to generate high-voltage instrument transformers ranging from 600 volts to 500 kilovolts by using this new plant, therefore reinforcing its position in the market.
