Georgia – The University of North Georgia (UNG) is busy getting ready for student return to its Cumming Campus as summer passes. Beginning Monday, August 12, the campus will come alive with the start of the “Weeks of Welcome” (WoW) event, an exciting two-week program meant to inspire students for the forthcoming academic year.
Warm welcome at the welcome tent
The opening day features the “Welcome Tent,” stationed prominently in the First Floor Lobby from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. UNG personnel will be on hand here to welcome newcomers, provide useful directions, and address any urgent concerns regarding university life. Sponsored by the Cumming Campus itself, this first arrangement sets a positive tone for the next days and provides first point of contact for both new and returning students.
Engaging activities and informative fairs
The first week’s events combine fun and practicality. Students can engage in “Match the Pet with the Staff Member,” a lighthearted event set to take place on Wednesday, August 14Â that not only introduces staff but also gives a personal touch by including their pets. Outdoor activities and an opportunity to enjoy some local food from the Super Taco food truck at the Outside Pavilion will follow after the event.
The “Campus Resource Fair” will take place in the Lower Lobby from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. where different campus services including tutoring, counseling, enrollment management, and public safety will highlight what they have to offer. These fairs, which take place on Thursday, give students a vital chance to become familiar with the wide range of support resources UNG Cumming offers.

Coffee, cops, and community engagement
Monday, August 19 will see a special mix of community development and safety instruction under “Coffee with a Cop.” This event fosters a safe and secure campus by open communication between university police officials and students. After this, the Involvement Fair will expose students to many student organizations, therefore helping them to identify their niche within the university community.
The series of events ends with an emphasis on career growth and community involvement. On Wednesday, August 21, “Envision U: Career Mad Libs” and the “Community Engagement Fair,” aim to equip kids for future success and inspire active participation in neighborhood projects.

Sweet endings with creative enterprises
Students can savor in “Ice Cream with Creative Enterprises” on the last two days as WoW closes. Along with a delicious treat, this fun event highlights the important work of Creative Enterprises, a community rehabilitation program for people with disabilities.
The Weeks of Welcome at UNG’s Cumming Campus are more than just a set of activities; they are a well constructed experience meant to let every student feel connected, informed, and eager to start their new academic path. WoW is poised to start the school year with momentum and smiles, whether via entertaining events, useful guidance, or community involvement.
